The Brugge laboratory at Harvard Medical School studies ovarian cancer,striving to discover the mechanisms behind drug resistance.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral or visiting scholar fellow to join our team.In this position,you will support the clinical evaluation of specific drug combinations for recalcitrant ovarian cancer.

You will be responsible for performing correlative studies for the development and evaluation of targeted therapy combinations in ovarian cancer cell lines,patient-derived xenograft models,organoids and primary tumor samples.

In addition,you will also investigate the genetic and proteomic markers that correlate with efficacy to identify putative biomarkers and candidate mechanisms for the differential drug responses.

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in drug discovery and translational studies.This postdoctoral position is ideally suited for those individuals interesting in a career in the pharmaceutical industry.

Technical Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out drug treatments and generation of dose response curves

Identify candidate drug combinations based on existing knowledge

Perform various molecular analyses to identify mutations,translocations,and copy number alterations in pre-and post-treatment samples

Characterize the proteomic adaptive responses in pre-and post-treatment samples

Analyze clinical samples using proteomics and in situ imaging approaches

Maintain tumor cell lines,tumor organoid cultures and patient-derived xenograft models

Generate figures from these analyses for presentations and publications

Communicate regularly with project collaborators on analysis progress and outcomes

Knowledge,skills and abilities required

PhD in tumor biology,pharmacology,biochemistry or similar

0-3 years post-degree experience(PhD students in the last year of their thesis work are eligible to apply)

Experience or demonstrated interest in tumor biology

Strong record of scientific achievement:publications,conference presentations,etc.

Extensive hands-on wet-lab experience

Excellent analytical,communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams

Must be willing to make a minimum 2-year commitment

哈佛医学院的培养机制

美国医生培养机制与中国有很大不同。首先，美国医学院招生起点为取得学士学位的大学本科毕业生，也不乏硕士，而且均非医疗专业，但所学必须有规定科目，例如物理学、化学、生物等。

其次，招生人数控制得十分严格。哈佛医学院每年仅招收130人，美国最大的医学院每年招收人数也不过200名左右。这样，不仅能够保证教授指导到位，培养出优秀人才，也不会导致就业困难。另外，英美医学院毕业生一般都会获得博士学位，所以，医生与博士的英语单词是同一个：Doctor。美国哈佛大学

取得博士学位并不算完，还必须做7年的实习医生以及1年的异地训练，合格后才能够成为主治医。可想而知，医生在美国虽然属于高收入阶层，但千年的媳妇熬成婆实属不易。
