不同的美国大学的教育学专业分支不同，其就业前景会有很大的不同，总的来说，美国大学教育学专业的主要可以划分如下三大类：
美国教育学就业：方向多样性
有相当一部分的教育学专业学生，毕业后从事教学工作，这也成为大家对教育学就业方向的“思维定式”。但事实上，由于教育学专业分支较多，很多教学专业的毕业生，以后并不一定从事教学工作。
初等教育、特殊教育等专业的毕业后主要会从事教师工作，但教育技术或教育心理学等专业的毕业生，则会分布到各级政府的管理机构等部分担任教育类相关工作。
