一．部分学校金融PHD招生对于工作研究经验的要求

（一）．明确表示重视工作经验的学校

1．University of Chicago

Reviewers evaluate the applicant’s essays, academic background and performance, research interest and potential, prior exposure to academic research, strength of recommendations and standardized test scores.

明确表明对于学术研究经验的重视。

2．MIT Sloan

The faculties are looking for research skills and potential, and focus primarily on your research statement, recommendations, transcripts, and test scores.
明确表明重视研究能力和经验。

3．Stanford

A significant number of the PhD student body has joined the Program from abroad, and a variety of personal and professional backgrounds is represented. These backgrounds range from individuals with substantial experience in management and/or industry to those newly graduated from undergraduate programs such as economics, mathematics, or psychology.

通过往届招生的素质说明工作经验的重要。

4．Stern (NYU)

As stated earlier, test scores are only one of the elements we consider. We accept the students whom we feel have the aptitude, background and motivation to produce first quality research in the future.

强调了对研究背景的要求。

5．Haas(UCBerkeley)

A Haas Ph.D. student interested in finance needs a strong course background in mathematics and statistics. This is prerequisite to the sequence of four doctoral seminars in finance.

6．Kellogg(Northwestern)

The department seeks students with backgrounds in finance or economics. This may include undergraduate or graduate degrees or work/research experience in economics or finance. Finance is a quantitative and rigorous discipline. As such, the department also looks for students with solid quantitative backgrounds, including coursework in mathematics, statistics or a related quantitative field.

1．Wharton (UPenn)

Undergraduate training in economics, mathematics, engineering, or any other quantitative discipline is an excellent background for undertaking doctoral studies in the field of finance.

4．Columbia

没有对工作研究经验作要求。注意的是不接受GMAT成绩。

5．Harvard

Neither master's degree nor work experience is required, though some candidates have some work and/or research experience in business prior to entering the program.
不需要工作经验，但是有工作经验的申请者优先录取。

6．Fuqua(Duke)

Admission to the decision sciences Ph.D. program depends on the applicant's mathematical background, GMAT and/or GRE scores, and recommendations from faculty, grades, and other factors.

二．金融PHD招生要求之工作研究经验分析

1.从以上15所TOP金融PHD招生要求来看，对于工作和研究经验没有硬性的要求。正是因为这样，这些学校乃至其他的学校也只要求申请者具有Bachelor学位就行，所以本科学生是完全有可能申请到金融PHD的。

成功案例：背景是北大物理系学生，本科毕业后成功申请美国Cornell金融专业的PH.D。本人的基本情况如下：成绩：本科前三年绩点3.81，排名为前6%；寄托：TOEFL 637+5.5，GRE（今年6G） 620/800/5.0 论文：只有本专业的一篇论文发表在国际期刊上，没有金融学专业的论文；数学成绩较好，本科数学课程均在95分以上，学过高等数学（B类），线性代数，概率统计和数学物理方法（就是复变函数加数理方程）

从这个案例可以看到，本科好的背景，GT成绩好，GPA高，即使没有工作经验也是可以申请金融PHD的。

2.虽然没有硬性的要求，这些学校还是很青睐具有工作经验和研究经历的申请者。因为金融PHD重视的是soft skill，即是申请者的研究能力和潜力，学校不会招收一些没有研究能力的学生去读PHD。

成功案例：个人背景：国内经济一流大学本科毕业，应该可以算前三吧？国内欧美银行3年工作经验，欧洲一所比较著名的经济院校（非英国）两年金融硕士（全奖）。

GMAT：700， T：623，都是比较早前考的了，我的T还是过期的了。

推荐信：本科院校教授1封，硕士阶段国外教授1-2封。

比较专心地做了PERSONAL STATEMENT， RESEARCH PROPOSAL（虽然很多学校没要求），并且请非中文母语的若干人帮忙修改过。

申请的院校：由于我的TOEFL过期了，但是我的硕士课程的教学语言是全英语的，所以问了若干学校，选择了一些可以考虑免除TOEFL要求或者可以接受已过期的成绩的学校。美国前30 （2所），50名以后（2所），新加坡（2所）。

目前状态：FINANCE PHD OFFER，美国1所学校，新加坡1所学校。

该案例中的申请者GT并不突出，但是工作经验在申请中起到了很重要的作用。
